I can't wait until October!

I found out my time slot in the sequential reading for poets with new books at the Massachusetts Poetry Festival. My slot is 4:24-4:32. I think it is a good sign because I was born at exactly 4:24 pm, and my favorite apartment was in Glendale, California on 432 East Fairview Ave. I'll be reading between Lisa Olstein and Dick Lourie: great poets who compliment my work.

Check out this research I found about October 17th, the day of the reading:

October 17th is known as "The Poet's Day." The date coincides with a weather system ideal for poetry reading: perfect barometric pressure, temperature, and an atmosphere that is a model of sound conductivity. This phenomenon is also known to "strengthen" an audience, who would normally tire during a reading, and make them more receptive to poetry.

Maybe I'll write a million poems this year!

I track the poems that I write every year. (I also track the books I read and the movies I watch.) The most poems I've ever written in a year is twenty. It was in 2000 and I was on my very best writing stride.

Last night I wrote poem number twenty for this year, and there are three months left!

The gallery cat's name is Uh Oh

I decided before I was going to the poetry reading that I was going to read 2 of my poems about cats. The cat that lives at the gallery must have known this because he sat on my lap during the reading.

I think it is hilarious that it looks like Kris and I are giving each other dap in the photo.

It is nice to see it in print

I am excited to see my name on the roster as a reader in the Massachusetts Poetry Festival in October!
