I am not mentioning his name on purpose

Years ago, I went to a workshop led by a famous poet who was mean (without being helpful)to his students. Recently, I told Kris about the poet, and got out an old magazine where he appeared on the cover. I wanted to show Kris what the poet looked like.

A couple days later, I noticed one of my cats threw up on the cover, right on the poet's face.

The cat who threw up on the cover is Dinah (named after Alice in Wonderland's cat).

Ha! I can think of a poet (a woman) with whom I took a workshop who deserves to have her face vomited upon!

go ahead and mention my name—

it's interesting you're reading Becker,
because she was in my workshop

and it helped her (or so she's said)

even if it didn't suit you—

I've never been in a workshop with you, Bill, but I would have loved to--I am a big fan of your poetry.

are you sure you're not one of the casualties from my workshop? you could be an ancillary victim and not know it . . .

so it wasn't my picture on the cover of that old issue of Ploughshares the cat
vomited on?
