All the evidence was gone in the morning

Last night a huge tree fell in the condo's parking lot while I was at the gym. Both Kris's and my cars were both fine. It was surreal coming home and seeing half the cars in the lot covered in tree branches and leaves with just the tops poking out. It looked like those photos you see after a flood, but instead of water, it was leaves.

Robert Creeley is from Acton

I was so overwhelmed when I went into the poetry bookstore, I immediately forgot all the names of any poetry books I wanted to look for. Luckily, I had Snow on Snow in my purse, so I could remember the name of a poet, and look to see if they had any other Maura Stanton books for me to buy (they did).

There was this adorable old guy who was name-dropping the names of famous poets who came into the store. When I told him that I was from New Jersey, he said "Someone from New Jersey came in recently...Robert Pinsky." He did this with a couple other famous poets too. It was hilarious--I don't even think he worked there.

Next time I go, I'm bringing a list with me.

Why didn't anyone tell me about this? I had to find out from a google search.

I just found out that there is a poetry bookstore in Cambridge! I always thought I would have to go to Seattle to go to a poetry bookstore. I'm so excited about this, and I'm going there tomorrow.

How paradelles are born

I saw Annie Finch read yesterday afternoon at the Concord Poetry Center. It was a fun reading, and Annie read a paradelle she wrote as a valentine to her husband. I had never heard of a paradelle, but it is a crazy parody poetry form that Billy Collins invented. Of course, now that I found out about this ridiculous form, I want to try and write one.
